Tatjana Kudinova

I'm a visual, mixed, and new media artist, classically trained in Fine Arts, with extensive experience in interaction design and immersive installations.

Born in Northern Europe, Lithuania, I grew up contemplating natural phenomena mirrored in thousands of glassy lakes in my native region of Ignalina. This profound connection with nature has deeply influenced my work, fostering an interest in juxtaposition, reflections, symmetry, inversion, patterns, and abstract spatial constructions.

My artistic practice explores the boundaries between reality and perception. I create images that can be reversed and bent back on themselves, challenging our understanding of the world around us. By taking ordinary objects and scenes out of context, I invite viewers to see familiar elements in new, often surreal ways.

From the thousands of glassy lakes of Lithuania to the urban landscapes of San Francisco and Hong Kong, my environments have shaped my visual language. I combine traditional photography with digital manipulation techniques to craft immersive, often symmetrical compositions that blur the line between the natural and the constructed.

I studied BA in Graphics at Vilnius Academy of Art, then pursued my MFA at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in Spain and California College of the Arts in San Francisco. My journey led me to Hong Kong for seven years, where I created photographic and interactive media works for festivals such as Sonar, Mutek, and ISEA. In 2022, I returned to San Francisco to establish my artistic and design practice.

Through my work, I aim to create powerful aesthetic experiences that resonate with the human psyche, encouraging viewers to question their perceptions and explore the hidden dimensions of our world.
